Betros Bros Ready for the Next Level

More than 78 years after opening its doors in Toowoomba, the nationally renowned and family-owned Betros Bros has listed its highly successful business and commercial premises for sale.

Betros Bros’ premium business and prime located sites at Toowoomba and Dalby in Queensland are being offered for sale through Ray White Commercial (Qld) and Ray White Commercial Toowoomba.

Known for their extensive fruit and vegetable wholesaling and supermarket businesses, the owners are looking for a new operator to take the family business, which was established in 1938, to the next level.

The owners assured the company’s 140-strong workforce it would be “business as usual” at Betros Bros.

“To continue the business’s growth and prosperity, the owners wish to explore all options available,” the Betros family said in a statement.

Ray White Commercial (Qld) Director Mark Creevey said as well as the Betros Bros business, the Russell Street retail store and Annand St wholesale warehouse in Toowoomba were for sale along with the combined retail/ wholesale store on the corner of Drayton and Condamine streets in Dalby.

“Not only is Betros Bros the major fruit and vegetable wholesale business on the Darling Downs, the divestment may also include strategically located properties in Toowoomba and Dalby,” he said.

Ray White Commercial Toowoomba Sales and Leasing Agent, Peter Marks, said the Russell St store is on a land area of 3026 sqm in a prime location in the Toowoomba CBD.

Mr Marks said the Annand St wholesale warehouse is also centrally located in the Toowoomba CBD close to QIC’s Grand Central development on a land area of 3160 sqm, while the Dalby property is on a 3931 sqm land area in the centre of town.

“As well as being ideally located, these sites also offer opportunities for redevelopment,” he said.

“The Toowoomba sites will benefit from QIC’s $500 million redevelopment of Grand Central which is set to make it the region’s major retail, entertainment and lifestyle destination.

“Toowoomba is already the commercial and economic hub of the Darling Downs and widely accepted as the service centre for the Darling Downs and Surat Basin.”

Ray White Commercial Qld’s Stephen Kidd said Australia’s newest airport, Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, is providing an aviation gateway to South East Asia, direct from Toowoomba and south-west Queensland.

“Developed and operated by global construction company Wagners, the airport is just 17 kilometres from Toowoomba’s CBD and offers regular direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and beyond,” he said. “Fresh green produce can be shipped to China on a daily basis.

“Expansion of the wholesale business into such an exciting new and growing market offers unlimited potential for a new owner, the foundations are in place.”
